Axel Blackwell

The Timeweaver's Wager

Would you give your life for a second chance?

Be careful what you wish for.

Glen McClay sits on a fallen log by the railroad trestle, watching for his girlfriend's ghost. Eight years ago, Connie Salvatore was savagely murdered here. Glen has spent his life seeking redemption, haunted by the knowledge that he might have been able to save her.

The time has come to let go of his past and move on with his life. But as he prepares to do so, an old friend offers Glen the redemption he has always sought – a chance to relive that horrible night and change the past. All he has to do... is die.

5.0 out of 5 stars Warning: don't start this book if you have someplace to be.

I put this book down exactly once. The story, the suspense, and the lyrical writing grab you from the beginning. There are a lot of time travel/what if sorts of stories out there, and it's one of my favorite plot devices, but this one has a spin that I don't think I've seen before. Even if I had, the writing would have set this one apart.
One of the best things about this book is that even once you know what is about to take place, what the second chance is, you're in even more suspense as to the outcome. It could go one of several ways, and you really don't know which one the author has in mind until you read it.

5.0 out of 5 stars What if you could?

Axel Blackwell has created a gripping tail of remorse, love, and finding redemption. “Timeweaver’s Wager” is a deep, character driven story full of the mystery of the human soul.
It grips the reader from the first page...I highly recommend this story to everyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Totally captivating

I had things planned for today but they did not happen, because once I opened this book I couldn't put it down. It's heartbreaking and captivating--the story of one night that shattered lives and the regrets that lingered ever since. The mystery at the heart of it all kept me turning the pages.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stays with you long after closing the book

Timeweaver's Wager touches a subject that most of us think about from time to time - if you could have changed a moment of regret in your past, would you really do it? Axel Blackwell manages to manipulate the reader to feel it all ("Hell yeah", "Well on second thought...", "Oh, I haven't thought of that", "Argh, maybe not").
The story revolves around two terrific characters, and then offers several unforgettable side characters. The story is touching and interesting.
It's a beautiful and thrilling story, and it stays with you long after closing the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars I read for enjoyment, so I read when I have the time ...

I won a copy of this book in a giveaway and had been very eagerly anticipating the read. Let me say that I am typically a slow reader, I read for enjoyment, so I read when I have the time to really sit and enjoy a book, and usually that means any book is going to take me a number of days to read.
Not this book.
I devoured this in 1 sitting. Yes, I was up pretty darned late doing so, and there is not much I would sacrifice my weekend sleep for, but the book was simply that good, and I could not put it down... I highly recommend this book! Fantastic development of characters and plot, great pacing and enough suspense that you just can't put it down.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is worth your time

I knew Axel Blackwell was something special back when I read Sisters of Sorrow. I'm not too good at writing reviews, but I can tell you he's come out with something just as wonderful and gripping as his last novel. He's on my list as one of my favorite storytellers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely perfect!

Follow Glen McClay's journey as Axel Blackwell takes you on a winding rollercoaster of emotion and 'what ifs'...If faced with the chance to repair a damaged past, could you go through with it, even if the price paid is the highest sacrifice?
This is such a sad, haunting and beautiful tale of young love and what you would do to save the person you love the most. This book is so unlike others in its genre and no review would do it justice. It's unique and I struggled to put it down it was that good. It really makes you appreciate life and the people in it and I was constantly trying to guess what would happen next only to be proved wrong.
It's a fantastic book from a great author and if your looking for something different and memorable then this is the perfect book to read.
